COCO & CONNORS GO the DISTANCE

Mansfield Swarm

It was yet another cold and brisk afternoon in our 1st NEAAU season.  The Swarmers took to the field as the away team against the Easton Bengal’s.  We were missing 4 players from our line up – 9 girls were playing all 7 innings.

“Coco” Chanel & Kayleigh Connors were our captains “Coco” was the pitcher, with Brianna catching  – They lasted all 7 innings – no relief needed.

The Mansfield Swarm was up 1st with Jocelyn hitting her 1st home run of the season.  Our hitting was little off and 2 strike outs held us to 1 run.

The Swarm took to the fields and “Coco” kept the Bengal’s from scoring in the 1st 2 innings!

“The Bunt” aka Kaylene moved runners along on 2 successful bunts. Kayleigh ran out a dropped 3rd strike… Kathryn walked to 1st, Taylor bought in 2 RBI’s with a triple… One Mom could be heard screaming all the way in Mansfield (England,) guess who?  Kaylene & Jocelyn made it to 1st … but were left stranded at the bases.

Brianna was a machine behind the plate and catching some phenomenal throws from Kayleigh and Ashley tagging out runners coming home. Sadie made an outstanding catch at 1st to keep it going.  We now know why she is called “Stretch”.

We would hold the Bengal’s in the 4th – Taylor caught a screamer hit to 1st, Colleen had a strike out and than a grab off the dirt by Jocelyn to Taylor the last out.  Way to go Girls.. Team work.

The 5th inning much of same … no girls on base – Bengal’s up all struck out.  Our fielding tonight was the best it’s been and all the girls made outstanding catches and throw.  But despite never giving up, the Swarm fell short tonight by 1 run - 6-7.
