14U Mansfield Swarm

vs BILLERICA BOMBERS

Mansfield SWARM (14U) won a pitchers duel on Sunday vs. Billerica Bombers at the Easton fields. Kathryn Eberhart hurled a 3 hit complete game, striking out six and allowing just 2 walks. After four innings, the SWARM found themselves chasing two runs. The bats came alive in the 5th and 6th innings with hits from Mansfield’s Ashley Cuneo, Kayla Sepe, Jackie Carchedi and Kelly Price. Mansfield scored first with a one out triple by Maddie Lally. Cuneo led the effort going 3-4 along with two hits from Price. “We were a little rusty” after a week layoff, and “they had a good pitcher”, said manager Dave Eberhart. We continued to make solid defense plays until the bats warmed up and we built a little cushion. Mansfield improved to 5-1-1 on the season.

vs ANDOVER WARRIORS

The SWARM faced the Andover Warriors for the second time this AAU season. Mansfield built a 6-3 lead after two innings and had a five run fifth inning that helped the SWARM win their second game of the day 12-5. “All our girls are athletes and can make plays” said manager Dave Eberhart. “It’s great to watch them develop into steady ballplayers”. Cory Burns and Kayla Sepe combined pitching effort helped keep the warriors off balance all day. All SWARM members had at least one hit and Maddie Lally led all players going 3-4 for the afternoon game. Kayla Sepe had two hits along with Ashley Cuneo, Jackie Carchedi, Anna Chiarolanza and Cory Burns. Although the girls played well today, there are still plenty of areas to do better, stated coach Leslie Reardon of the SWARM. Mansfield improves to 6-1-1 on the season. Next up, the SWARM plays host at Wheaton College on Mother’s Day to Easton and Needham with games at noon and 4pm.
