The South Shore Indians, based out of Hanover and Cohasset, MA, finished their 2011 New England AAU Fall Baseball season undefeated. It was capped off this past weekend with winning the NEAAU 14U championship title in New Hampshire. Drawing the top seed, the Indians had a first round bye, defeated the Hit Doctor Diamonds in semi-final play 12-7 and then defeated the RBI's Storm 15-4 later that day for the title.
Strong pitching performances by Tyler Balzarini, Jack Ruprecht and Pat Kielty contributed to the solid defense play in both games. The South Shore offense was on fire, producing 27 runs and 30 hits during playoffs. Matt Downing led the team with multiple hits (5), Brett Dooley (3), Tyler Balzarini (3), Jack Ruprecht (3), Sean Cornell (2), Evan Clancy (2), Dan Cole (2), Joe Oriola (2), Jackson Bennis (2), and Pat Kielty (2). Brendan Connolly ended the final game early with a 2-run HR. The SS Indians are coached by Don Cornell, John Balzarini and Denis Downing.
