MARAUDERS help bring SOLDIERS HOME for XMAS
December 16, 2009 | 10:33pm

The Granite State Marauders conducted a fundraiser to benefit the National Guardsmen Association of New Hampshire's "Operation Bring a Soldier Home for Christmas".  The Marauders conducted baseball lessons at SportsZone in Derry this past Saturday, December 12th from 9am to 2pm. Over 15 players and 6 coaches participated and raised over $500.  The funds will be used to charter buses that will bring New Hampshire service members home for Christmas.

Currently, 140 New Hampshire National Guard soldiers are at a mobilization training station in Indiana in preparation to deploy overseas. Over the Christmas holiday, however, their training will cease and while the service members are permitted to travel home, it’s not permissible to use federal or state funds to provide for their transportation to return home to be with their families. The goal of the NH National Guard Enlisted Association is to raise $40,000 by December 23, 2009 so these citizen soldiers can be home once more before their overseas deployment.  "We would like to teach our players more than just baseball"--said Juan Gaud, VP of Marauders baseball operations.  "Our kids understand that service members make great sacrifices and they were eager to help"--added Gaud.

The Marauders would like to extend an invitation to any other NH Sports Organizations that would like to raise funds for this worthy cause!  Donations can be sent to: NGANH,  1 Minuteman Way  Box 54,  Concord, NH 03301.
